Formed in 1986, the trust has been consistently worked towards its main objective- or Rehabilitation of Persons with Disability and prevention of disability, by direct or indirect intervention and promotion of all activities which qualitatively and quantitatively improve Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation services

Community Based Rehabilitation

RAMKRISHNA MISSION BLIND BOYS’ ACADEMY , Gosaba Block , 24 PARGANAS, WEST BENGAL

1993 for four years , CIT Helped in   Vocational Rehabilitation of the Handicapped in Rural Vocations

CBR Project helped by CIT :-DEEP SHIKHA, INSTITUTE FOR CHILD DEVELOPMENT & MENTAL   HEALTH – (Jharkhand, erstwhile Bihar)

This society has been working in Teothar Tehsil of Rewa, in Madhya Pradesh. It has started with a small Woman Vocational training Centre. And has a small school of 10 specially challenged children .It has localized 11 person with Disability, whom they help to rehabilitate. It requires nuts in various ways and greater involvement of the involved persons.

This Centre is situated at Rae BAREILY District of Uttar Pradesh. Concern India Trust in partnership has Rotary Seva Kendra since 1999-2000 for the various type of rehabilitation work for the handicapped, when there were no any rehabilitation work for the handicapped persons

Concern India Orthopaedic Centre-   its own Orthopaedic Clinic

A small rented Orthopedic Centre has been set up at a Local Clinic…A basic Nucleus having just 4 beds was started in June 2003. The existent Operation theater has been Equipped with some necessary gadgets including Arthroscopy facilities .76 Major Surgeries have been done since then. An attempt at proper documentation has been done. This, in spite of – odds of inadequate finances, inadequate space, lack of full time qualified staff, and above all the lack of freedom to improve where one would like to.

It is hoped that in coming years the Trust is able to develop its own Orthopedic Hospital &Rehabilitation Centre–which would deliver quality Orthopedic Care, Education and Research & also in rehabilitation.

This is a outstanding organization doing commendable   work for the Persons with Disability since last 30 years. Concern India Trust has taken the organisation as a partner project JIMARS ( Viklang Kendra) run by Rotary Sponsored Crippled Youth & Welfare Society. Over the past ten years it has :

  • Helped in establishing a ward for disabled persons at JIMARS (Viklang Kendra).
  • Helped in building and electrification of the physio and occupation therapy unit of JIMARS (Viklang Kendra). .
  • Helped in building of the new outpatient block of JIMARS (Viklang Kendra).
  • Helped in establishing a complete water supply system of JIMARS (Viklang Kendra).
  • Helped in making a completely planed electrical distribution system of Viklang Kendra.
  • Helped in making temporary accommodation for staff, nurses and various categories of Rehabilitation professionals of JIMARS (Viklang Kendra).
  • Up gradation Of Training Facilities for the Training Programs of Rehabilitation and Health Personnel, at Viklang Kendra.
  • Setting up an X-RAY unit

JIMARS (Viklang Kendra). , Opp. Bharadwaj Ashram, had an old X-ray Machine, which was not functioning. Concern India Trust helped to get a New Tube Head installed. By the Help of Concern India Trust the X-ray machine has been repaired and functioning, there by rendering useful service to poor patients, at subsidized rates.

Project for Improving infrastructure for Day care Special Education Centre for Teaching of Mentally Retarded , Multiply disabled & Spastic Children at Viklang Kendra( JIMARS) Opp. Bharadwaj Ashram, JLN Road Allahabad ,Uttar Pradesh,.

Concern India Trust is also helping Viklang Kendra to improve the facilities for upgradation of services for the two categories of Children with Disability namely: the Spastics and the Mentally Retarded. At present 165 Mentally Retarded & 60 Spastic Children are attending this Unit, in addition to this, a high number of new spastic children coming to this Unit –average of 10 per week.

Viklang Kendra is also being helped for:

  • Creating a Multi Disciplinary Assessment section for the category of Children mentioned and also for the physically and Hearing Impaired children who   come to Viklang Kendra as new patients.
  • Upgradation and creation of Dormitory for the parents of children with disability who come from far of villages and Districts ,who come for the rehabilitation of the children with Disability .This also includes the children and adults who are being operated
  • For Repair and upgradation of existent class rooms & making new ones.
  • And the other items mentioned below.

  6. Clean drinking water for them: Large Water Cooler, with Aqua guard and water storage for drinking purpose
  7. Setting up for toilets including water supply to them – Increasing water storage capacity, water supply and maintenance.

  9. Improving Therapies- physio, occupational and speech therapy for these children- by procuring equipments , if necessary
  10. Electric supply and back up.

For deformity

The renovation of the Dormitory for the Children with Disability began, because of acute need. It had a Tin shed which used to leak, it was dirty, improper toilet facilities and poor hygiene.

With help from Concern India Trust, the renovation of unused part of the main building complex has been undertaken – to give the children with disability and attendants, from outstation a better place to stay, so also for the children with disability who need in house care .There is much pending work.

There is plan to provide rooms for the families, with the children to stay independently and cook for themselves.

National Arthritis Mission

Launched by Concern India Trust

 

National Arthritis Mission is a recent effort of Concern India Trust.

The objective is to create awareness amongst the persons of all age groups regarding the various kinds of Arthritis and Joint problems which may afflict individual person’s. The methods of prevention, joint care, and methods of management also.

For those who are suffering from joint disorders to help provide them treatment at reasonable costs.

As yet 14 Arthroscopies and 28 cases of Arthritis have been done.

A Complete Polyclinic was sponsored and established at JIMARS (Viklang Kendra). Viklang Kendra by Concern India Trust, with Floor Tiling, Wall Painting, setting up 9 chambers for Doctors, Pathology and Imaging Units, with Fans and Coolers.

IN PATIENT WARDS

The Inpatient ward at Viklang Kendra was up graded from 14 beds to 40 beds including Intensive care Unit of 4 Beds and 4 Private Rooms, two of which are air Conditioned All beds were provided with New Mattresses and linen. All Toilets of tis area were upgraded and proper sanitary fitments were installed. The wards were painted and refurnished.

 

Setting up of Operation theatre

This is an extension of Concern India Orthopaedic Centre

Two operation theatre have been set up by as a part of Concern India Orthopaedic Centre .

The main Operation Theatres is a State of Art Laminar Air Operation Theater meant for Replacement Surgery and Other Clean Neurological and Plastic Surgery Cases. It has been equipped with Cardiac Defibrillator, Boyles Apparatus, Electro Cautery, Electronic Tourniquet machines, Two Horizontal Autoclaves, Electric and Pneumatic Saws and Drills, Two Air Conditioners and Back up Electric Supply of 30 Kva .The entire Circuit is stabilized. This makes it one of the best Operation Theatres of Allahabad for Orthopaedic and Neurological purposes.

The other is a Routine Operation Theater for Emergency Use, tourine Surgery. The electrical circuits, walls, OT Lights have been fitted including wash basins etc, but it needs a New   Boyles Apparatus.

It is proposed to link both the Operation Theaters and the Intensive Care Unit with Centralized Oxygen supply, and suction Unit

Intensive care Unit

An Intensive Care Unit for critical Care has been established with Cardiac Monitors, Cardiac Defibrillator, Resuscitation Trolleys, Special Beds .An addition Ventilator and Centralized Oxygen Supply is needed.

This entire complex of the Two Operation Theatres and Intensive Care Units have all got a proper back up supply of 15 Kva.

It IS TO BE noted that THE CONCERN INDIA ORTHOPAEDIC CENTRE HAS SHIFTED ITS BASE TO (JIMARS) VIKLANG KENDRA

This entire effort at upgrading the CI Orthopaedic Centre, presently based at JIMARS is aimed at providing High quality Orthopaedic Care at Reasonable Costs to the persons of Lower and Middle Income group .

A nucleus of a Spinal Injury Centre was started. The old tin shed of JIMARS (Viklang Kendra). Viklang Kendra was modified and the rooms created where infected spinal Injury and Paraplegic patients,

This is much needed , as this part of Uttar Pradseh does not have a Spinal Centre

One day course on Paediatric Fractures:

The special contribution of the trust, during the Conference was to help in running a course on Pediatric Fractures. This was done in close co ordination of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of India (POSI), and the Paediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America. (POSNA)

Prof. K. Wilkins (USA)-an Academician of International repute, was the anchor person, capably assisted by Prof. Stephen Tredwell (Canada), Dr. Ken Kuo .(Taiwan )Prof. Keshore Mulpuri (Canada) comprised the International faculty, Dr. Ashok Johari Dr Anil Arora, Dr. K. Vinodh , Dr. Romesh Sen were a part of the Indian Faculty it was Coordinated by Dr. Benjamin Joseph

It was held 19th FEBRUARY 2004 at Viklang Kendra, Allahabad U.P. India The Faculty Course: PEDIATRIC FRACTURE SEMINAR by Concern India Trust on behalf of Pediatric Orthopaedic Association of India

It was a very stimulating course and about 200 Orthopaedic Surgeons from all over the country particularly from the State of Uttar Pradesh. It helped in upgrading and refreshing many concepts associated with the important area of Paediatric Fractures.

A booklet on Paediatric Fractures, written by Prof. K. Wilkins, USA has been brought out by the Trust. Interested persons can get it from The Concern India Trust Office, at a nominal charge of One hundred Rupees.

Research Project

  • Passle project

This project was taken up as a part of the National study to assess the correct size of Implants in the Indian population. The project started earlier year continued.

It was coordinated by Padmabhushan Prof. Balu Sankaran, Prof. Emeritus, St. Stephens Hospital Delhi.Now he is no more

Spiral CT scans of persons were taken, with informed consent, around the hip and Knee. The various angles were measured and the data compiled. To make it statistically valid 27 other centers in the country are involved in this program

Concern India Trust was the only organization within this state of

  • Method: By using Spiral CT scans, measure bones and angles   around Hip & Knee, in live subjects
  • Compile data; to make them statistically valid.
